Motherhood, wellness, work, a little self-care, and finding beauty in the everyday.
A good routine makes my heart happy. I’m a big believer in having a little structure to my day, but I’m also learning that not every day needs to look the same. Some days are productive, some are slower, and some feel like I’m checking things off my to-do list while adding ten more things. You know the feeling!
My days are a combination of motherhood, work, wellness, family time, and trying to make space for myself somewhere in between. I’m a homebody at heart, a lover of slow mornings, a good cup of coffee, and all the little things that make an ordinary day feel a little more special.
So, here’s a peek into what a typical day in my life looks like lately!
6:00 AM | A Slow Start to the Morning
I like a little time to wake up, collect my thoughts, and ease into the day.
My ideal morning starts with a glass of water, making the bed, opening the blinds, making my coffee (because priorities), checking my phone, and taking a few minutes to look over the day’s schedule.
I love a good list. There’s something incredibly satisfying about knowing what’s on the agenda before the day gets away from me.
7:00 AM | Mom Mode
Once the morning gets going, it’s time to get Sam ready for school. Breakfast, getting dressed, finding anything that’s mysteriously disappeared overnight, and making sure we have everything we need before heading out the door.
Our mornings aren’t always picture-perfect, and I’m learning to embrace that. Sometimes we’re ahead of schedule, sometimes we’re moving a little slower, but we get there!
After school drop-off, I finally have a little breathing room to transition into my own day.
8:00 AM | Coffee, Planning & Getting Things Done
This is when I like to get organized.
I’ll spend some time checking emails, updating my calendar, working through my to-do list, and figuring out what needs my attention first.
A few things that usually make the list:
-
Checking emails and responding to messages.
-
Planning social media content and upcoming blog posts.
-
Working on The Robinson Nest.
-
Updating LTK links and finding new things to share.
-
Planning meals, errands, and household tasks.
I love having a little time to focus on creative projects and work toward the things I’m building.
9:00 AM | Yoga, Movement & Wellness
Wellness is a pretty big part of my everyday life, especially as a yoga teacher.
Depending on the day, I’ll teach yoga, a SilverSneakers class, practice on my own mat, or find another way to move my body.
I’ve grown to appreciate movement for what it gives me beyond the physical benefits. It’s a chance to reconnect with myself, slow down my thoughts.
Some days that looks like a strong, energizing practice. Other days, it’s stretching, breathing, and permitting myself to rest.
Both count.
11:00 AM | Back to Work (And All the Little Things)
After teaching or getting some movement in, I shift gears.
I’ll usually grab something to eat, catch up on work, and tackle whatever household tasks need attention.
This is also when I love having a podcast or playlist playing in the background. A tidy kitchen, a fresh load of laundry, and a little music can make even the most mundane afternoon feel enjoyable.
I’m a firm believer that you don’t have to wait for a special occasion to make your everyday life feel special.
12:00 PM | Lunch & A Little Reset
Lunch is usually something relatively simple. I love meals that are fresh, easy, and have protein and fiber.
After lunch, I’ll take a few minutes to reset the kitchen, refill my water, and check in with my schedule.
If I’m feeling productive, I’ll get ahead on a few things. If I need a slower afternoon, I’ll listen to that, too.
1:00 PM | Creative Time & The Robinson Nest
One of my favorite parts of the day is working on creative projects.
The Robinson Nest is where I get to bring together so many of the things I love: fashion, beauty, lifestyle, travel, motherhood, and all the little discoveries worth sharing.
A typical afternoon might include:
-
Writing or editing a blog post.
-
Creating Pinterest content.
-
Putting together outfit inspiration.
-
Browsing new beauty and fashion finds.
-
Updating my LTK storefront.
-
Planning upcoming newsletters.
-
Brainstorming Instagram and other social content.
I love having a creative outlet that feels like an extension of my everyday life.
3:00 PM | Afternoon Mom Life
School is out, snacks are happening, and the afternoon becomes a little less structured. I love hearing about Sam’s day, spending time together, and making room for the little moments that are easy to overlook when life gets busy.
Sometimes we have activities or errands, and sometimes we’re perfectly happy being home.
I’m realizing more and more that some of my favorite memories are during the most ordinary afternoons.
5:00 PM | Dinner & Home Life
I love planning cozy dinners. Think slow cooker, one-pan dinners, homemade comfort food.
After dinner, we tidy up, prep for the next day, and enjoy a little family time.
I also try to make our home a place everyone can relax and recharge. It’s not always perfectly organized, but it’s ours, and that’s what matters.
7:00 PM | Family Time & Evening Wind-Down
Depending on the day, evenings might include teaching an evening yoga class, watching a movie, spending time with Tory, or enjoying a quiet night at home.
I’m definitely a homebody. Give me comfortable clothes, a cozy blanket, a good show, and nowhere else I need to be, and I’m happy.
Once Sam is settled for the night, I like to take a little time for myself.
8:30 PM | A Little Self-Care
This is my favorite time to slow everything down.
My evening routine usually includes:
-
Washing my face and completing my skincare routine.
-
A little body care and moisturizing.
-
Getting comfortable in my favorite pajamas.
-
Reading a few pages of a book.
-
Journaling or reflecting on the day.
-
Checking tomorrow’s calendar.
-
Putting my phone down and giving myself some quiet time.
I’m trying to be more intentional about my evenings and less tempted to spend an hour scrolling when I could be doing something that actually helps me recharge.
10:00 PM | Calling It a Night
Before bed, I’ll make sure the house is reasonably picked up, the kitchen is reset, and anything important for tomorrow is taken care of.
Then it’s lights out!
I’m learning that getting enough rest is as important as everything else on my to-do list. There’s always something more I could be doing, but sometimes the most productive thing is simply calling it a day.
A Few Things I’ve Learned at 32
If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my early thirties, it’s that a good routine isn’t about making every minute productive. It’s about creating a life that feels good to live.
I naturally gravitate toward organization, planning, and having a little control over my surroundings. But motherhood, relationships, work, and simply growing up have taught me that flexibility is just as important.
I’m learning to:
-
Prioritize rest without feeling guilty.
-
Stop treating every unfinished task like a personal failure.
-
Spend more time being present instead of documenting every moment.
-
Find beauty in the ordinary.
-
Permit myself to change my mind.
-
Remember that slow progress is still progress.
My days aren’t always perfectly balanced, and my routines certainly aren’t set in stone. But I’m finding that habits, rituals, and intention are what make everyday life feel meaningful.
At the end of the day, I’m not trying to have a picture-perfect life. I’m trying to create a life I genuinely love waking up to.
And I think that’s a pretty lovely place to be.
Love, Elle xx
