The travel wardrobe I’d pack for a few of my favorite getaways.
Packing for a trip makes me want to reinvent my wardrobe.
Suddenly I’m convinced I need five new dresses, three pairs of shoes, a different bag for every outfit, and approximately 47 “just in case” pieces.
But these days, I’m much more interested in packing less and wearing more.
My ideal travel wardrobe is effortless, comfortable, polished, and versatile enough that I can wear the same pieces in a few different ways. Give me a neutral color palette, a few beautiful accessories, comfortable shoes, and one or two pieces that make me feel really good – and I’m happy.
So, in the spirit of packing smarter (and making outfit planning a little more fun), here’s what I would pack for…
What I’d Pack For… Disneyland

For me, the formula is simple: comfortable shoes + easy layers + a little bit of Disney magic.
I’d start with relaxed denim shorts or comfortable trousers and a simple fitted tee or tank. Then I’d add a lightweight cardigan, oversized button-down, or sweatshirt for cooler mornings and evenings.
And obviously, the accessories matter.
A cute crossbody or belt bag is essential for keeping your hands free, while a baseball cap, sunglasses, and simple jewelry make the whole look feel intentional.
For shoes, I’m choosing something I can genuinely walk in all day. Disneyland is not the place to discover your “cute walking shoes” are actually torture devices.
My Disneyland packing list:
- Comfortable sneakers
- Denim shorts or relaxed pants
- Basic tees and tanks
- Lightweight sweatshirt or cardigan
- Crossbody or belt bag
- Baseball cap
- Sunglasses
- Minimal gold jewelry
- A cute pair of pajamas for the hotel
- One slightly dressier outfit for dinner
The goal: cute enough for the photos, comfortable enough for 20,000 steps.
What I’d Pack For… Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara is the kind of destination where I want my wardrobe to feel coastal, relaxed, and effortlessly pretty.
Think linen. White. Soft neutrals. Easy dresses. Sandals. Sunglasses. A woven bag.
Basically, the outfits that make it look like you just naturally woke up looking polished.
I’d pack a lightweight midi or maxi dress for exploring and dinner, linen pants, a simple tank, and an oversized button-down.
And yes, I’m bringing the straw bag.
My Santa Barbara packing list:
- Linen pants
- Lightweight midi or maxi dress
- White or neutral tank
- Oversized button-down
- Comfortable leather sandals
- Woven tote or crossbody
- Sunglasses
- Lightweight sweater for the evening
- Simple gold jewelry
- Swimsuit
- One cute dinner outfit
The vibe: coastal California without trying too hard.
What I’d Pack For… Lake Powell

Lake Powell is a completely different packing situation because comfort is non-negotiable – but that doesn’t mean you can’t still have a little style.
A good swimsuit is obviously at the top of the list, but I also love lightweight layers that can easily go from the boat to lunch.
Think oversized button-downs, breezy shorts, simple tanks, baseball caps, sandals, and a great pair of sunglasses.
And I would absolutely pack more swimsuits than I think I need.
Because somehow, there is never such a thing as too many swimsuits on a lake trip.
My Lake Powell packing list:
- 2-3 swimsuits
- Lightweight shorts
- Basic tanks
- Oversized button-down shirts
- Easy cover-ups
- Water-friendly sandals
- Baseball cap
- Sunglasses
- Lightweight sweatshirt
- Crossbody or belt bag
- Large tote
- SPF
- A comfortable outfit for evenings
The vibe: sporty, easy, sun-soaked, and ready for whatever the day turns into.
What I’d Pack For… St. George

St. George is one of those places where I want to be comfortable during the day but still feel pulled together when we head out for dinner.
My answer?
Easy basics + one really good statement piece.
I’d pack denim shorts, a simple tank, lightweight trousers, a breezy dress, and sandals that can work with almost everything.
Then I’d add one outfit that feels a little more special – a beautiful dress, matching set, or elevated top with simple bottoms.
One pair of sandals. One everyday bag. One neutral layer. A handful of tops and bottoms.
That’s it.
My St. George packing list:
- Denim shorts
- Lightweight trousers
- Neutral tanks
- Breezy dress
- Matching set
- Comfortable sandals
- Sneakers
- Crossbody bag
- Sunglasses
- Lightweight sweater
- Simple jewelry
- Swimsuit
The vibe: desert getaway meets effortless resort wear.
What I’d Pack For… A Cozy Cabin Weekend

Now we’re speaking my language.
A cabin weekend is when I want to embrace the cozy.
Give me oversized sweaters, leggings, soft socks, sneakers, a baseball cap, and pajamas that are cute enough to wear while drinking coffee.
But I still like having one outfit that feels a little more elevated for dinner or a night out.
My cabin packing philosophy is basically:
Comfort first. Always. But make it cute.
My cabin packing list:
- Leggings or soft trousers
- Straight-leg jeans
- Oversized sweaters
- Basic long-sleeve tees
- Cozy socks
- Sneakers
- Boots
- Beanie
- Baseball cap
- Warm jacket
- Cute pajamas
- One elevated dinner outfit
- A favorite book
And yes, I’m bringing the book even if I spend the entire weekend watching movies.
It’s about the intention.
The Travel Capsule I’d Build Every Time
If I could only create one little travel wardrobe that would work for almost any trip, these are the pieces I’d start with:
1. A great pair of jeans
Comfortable enough for travel but polished enough for dinner.
2. A pair of versatile trousers
Neutral, lightweight, and easy to dress up or down.
3. Two pairs of shorts
One casual and one slightly more elevated.
4. Three to four basic tops
Tanks, tees, and simple layering pieces.
5. One oversized button-down
This might be the hardest-working piece in my suitcase.
6. Two dresses
One casual and one dressed up.
7. A lightweight sweater or cardigan
Because I refuse to underestimate air conditioning.
8. Comfortable sneakers
Non-negotiable.
9. One pair of sandals
Preferably neutral enough to work with everything.
10. One everyday bag
Crossbody or shoulder bag for hands-free exploring.
11. Sunglasses
Obviously.
12. Simple jewelry
A few pieces.
My Favorite Travel-Packing Rule
Before I put something in my suitcase, I ask myself:
“Can I wear this at least three different ways?”
If the answer is no, it usually stays home.
I want my travel wardrobe to feel like me – not like I packed an entirely different personality for vacation.
Because honestly, I’d rather spend my vacation exploring a new city, sitting by the water, finding a cute coffee shop, taking pictures with Sam, having dinner with my favorite people, or curling up somewhere cozy than worrying about whether I brought the right outfit.
And that’s really what effortless style means to me.
You don’t need a suitcase full of clothes to feel beautiful and put together. You need a few pieces you genuinely love.
And don’t forget the sunglasses.
